Hi, I'm Spencer

I was born and raised in northern BC and recently relocated to the Okanagan with my family. I hold a Master of Education in Counselling degree and a Bachelor of Arts in First Nations Studies degree, both from the University of Northern BC. I’ve worked in the helping profession for over a decade including experience working with men on parole, children and teens in school settings, Indigenous cultural support, and of course in a number of capacities in the counselling world. Most recently I've been in a leadership role at a non-profit where I provided both counselling and clinical supervision. Outside of counselling, I like music, riding bikes, tattoo culture, nerd stuff, and playing in the dirt.

My Approach

My approach is to help you explore life's big questions, find personal meaning, and live more authentically. I emphasize safety, collaboration, and genuine connection in our work together, and I work to create a space where you feel you can explore thoughts and feelings without judgment.

As a client, you steer the ship and I accompany you - there are of course times where I may help navigate or adjust the speed, but I believe that you are the expert in your own life - even when it may feel like the complete opposite.

My approach is direct, authentic, empathetic, and grounded in genuine curiosity, but it is never prescriptive. As far as modalities go, I have a foundation built on client-centered, existential, and trauma informed understandings, and at times integrate pieces and tools from other therapeutic modalities as it fits for each client.

Areas of Focus

I'm well experienced and interested in working with:

  • Anger

  • Trauma

  • Stress

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Existential Concerns

  • Grief & Loss

  • Identity

  • Suicidality

  • Relationship Conflicts

  • Life Transitions

  • Men's Issues

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusivity

That said, I’m open to working with many different client concerns and am experienced working with individuals with or without any formal diagnoses. I am always careful to work within my scope and am happy to support you in connecting with a colleague if either you or I feel that I'm not the best fit for your particular concern. If you’re wondering whether I’m equipped to work with you, please don’t hesitate to connect and ask.
